Summer 2024 Youth Clinics
Our youth clinics are intended for young hockey players, between the ages of 5 and 15 and are held at the Family Ice Center in Falmouth and the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn The first sessions begin the week of July 8 and each division will skate once per week for seven consecutive weeks through mid-August. Junior division - ages 5 to 8:
Our Junior division is for players ages 5 through 8. The curriculum will focus on skating skills. This division will skate two hours per week. The first hour of ice time will consist of fundamental instruction. During the second hour of ice time, we will conduct a controlled scrimmage where we will concentrate on increasing the speed of play and offering individual instruction during playing time. Between hours, we will hold a classroom discussion which focuses on various topics including: conditioning; mental preparation; and advanced team play. We are offering our Junior division at two venues.- Family Ice Center in Falmouth

Minor Division - ages 9 to 11:
Our Minor division is for players ages 9 through 11. The emphasis is on skating skills with some exposure to stick handling and, passing skillls. This division will skate two hours per week. The first hour of ice time will consist of fundamental instruction. During the second hour of ice time, we will conduct a controlled scrimmage where we will concentrate on increasing the speed of play and offering individual instruction during playing time. Between hours, we will hold a classroom discussion which focuses on various topics including: conditioning; mental preparation; and advanced team play.- Family Ice Center in Falmouth

(ages 9 to 11) skating on Tuesday evenings at 6:10 PM to 8:20 PM beginning July 9 and skating for seven consecutive Tuesday evenings through August 20. 3 Goalie and 6 skater spots open.
Tuition: $365
Major Division - ages 12 to 15:
The Major division is for players ages 12 through 15. The curriculum will include some power skating with more emphasis on agility skating, puck handling, passing, and an introduction to game situation drills. This division will skate two hours per week. The first hour of ice time will consist of fundamental instruction. During the second hour of ice time, we will conduct a controlled scrimmage where we will concentrate on increasing the speed of play and offering individual instruction during playing time. Between hours, we will hold a classroom discussion which focuses on various topics including: conditioning; mental preparation; and advanced team play.- Family Ice Center in Falmouth

Tuition: $365
Our youth clinics will also include instruction specific to goaltenders. We will have a goalie instructor at each session who will work with the goalies on skills specific to the position. Goalie registered in our Spring clinics will skate at a reduced tuition of $250.
A deposit of $150 is due with your application, and the balance is due prior to the first session. Space is limited and applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
A message from the Rousseaus
We are concerned with the state of youth hockey today. There is more focus on winning games and tournaments than on developing a passion for playing hockey, and we are hearing more about young players “burning out”. Children don’t get tired of playing hockey; they get tired of the pressure of having to win and the fear of making a mistake.
Our family grew up playing hockey, and the game has served as a powerful agent in our own personal development, and we have made many wonderful, long-lasting friendships along the way. Hockey has provided us with the opportunity to spend time together and to develop a lifelong emphasis on learning, fitness and growth. Rousseau’s Hockey Clinic is a family hockey school, and we consider ourselves fortunate to still be able to skate with our father and with each other and to have the opportunity to share the same experiences with our own children.
Our dad started Rousseau’s Hockey Clinic 38 years ago with the intention passing on his passion for hockey to his sons and to our friends. His vision truly endures, as Rousseau’s Hockey Clinic, today, strives to instill the very values we all were taught: discipline, honesty, attention to detail, work ethic and commitment. Our program is designed with the player’s overall development in mind. All of our clinics extend over several weeks. Although this format may not be the most convenient or profitable model, we believe that it is the best format to promote improvement. It provides adequate rest between training sessions and the necessary period of time to instill the essential concepts and lessons we seek to impart.
Playing hockey is about having fun. It’s fun to compete, to improve, to work toward a goal and to achieve it. Hockey has been a big part of our lives growing up and it continues to be a big part of our lives, as we have shared this great game with the extended Rousseau’s Hockey Clinic family for many years. We all still play recreationally and our pure love for the game burns as strong today as it did in our competitive playing days. We are all active hockey coaches and take pride in watching our students succeed. We hope to have the opportunity to share time with you on the ice this off-season. There is very little more that we enjoy doing.
